We Are Optimistic For Several Olympic Gold Medals, Leaders from Uasin Gishu Say

Several leaders from Uasin Gishu and the larger Rift Valley are optimistic that the Kenyan Team at the Rio Olympics 2016 will bag a lot of gold medals. Speaking to Eldoret Newsline led by Uasin Gishu County Assembly Majority Leader Josephat Lowoi, the leaders hailed Team Kenya as the best in the Olympic Competition that begins in two days time.

“Am very confident that we shall win a lot of medals.” Said Lowoi.

Lowoi added that the team choosing to train in Eldoret was their best bet as it was training at the Home of Champions.

The Uasin Gishu Assembly Team captain and MCA from Tembelio Ward Pius Kigen said that the residents and their leaders from Eldoret and the North Rift have high expectations for the team and wish them well.

The Uasin Gishu County Assembly has also been represented in Rio by the Chairman of House Committee on Youth and Sports Obadiah Kosgei. Kosgei was nominated by the National Olympics Committee of Kenya (NOCK) as part of the Kenyan delegation to Rio Olympics.

Team Kenya also got support from the Kericho County Assembly Team Manager Geoffrey Bii who said that all Kenyans are looking forward to capture a lot of gold medals from Rio. Bii also hailed NOCK for choosing Eldoret to host both the Olympic training camp and qualifications.

“Having Eldoret to host both the training and trials was long overdue as you know the Rift Valley is the home for athletics.” Bii said.

Cheptiret/Kipchamo Ward MCA Josphine Tarus also hailed the decision by NOCK to hold Olympics training and trials in Eldoret which she said was a great way open up the town to more visitors.
