The much awaited fertilizer factory located in Ngeria on the outskirts of Eldoret town will be officially opened this Thursday. The event which will be led by President Uhuru Kenyatta and his Deputy William Ruto.
The Sh 103B project will be producing over 150,000 metric tonnes of fertilizer annually. The fertilizer will be farmers friendly as it will be packaged even in 25 and 10kg bags unlike the current imported one that is packaged in 50kg bags.
According to Mr. Takishi Hattori, Toyota Tsusho’s senior managing director and chief Pan African regional officer, the fertilizer will retail under the brand name Baraka.
Operationalization of the factory will increase crop yields especially in the North Rift which has been hailed as the bread basket of Kenya.
