Uasin Gishu County Assembly Speaker Isaac Terer
Residents of Uasin Gishu have asked the government through the Ministry of Health to expand the Intensive Care Facilities at the Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital. This follows death of Robert Maru, an accident victim who could not access the limited ICU facilities at MTRH and was admitted at a private hospital. Maru passed on leaving behind a huge hospital bill.
Speaking at Cheptiret during the burial of the late Maru, Speaker of County Assembly of Uasin Gishu Isaac Terer decried over the failure by the national government and the MTRH management to expand the ICU facilities at the hospital
“It is cheaper if we can access ICU and HDU in our public hospitals. Am therefore urging the national government to add us more money to Moi Teaching and Referral Hospital to expand the ICU to save from going to these private hospitals,” Terer said.
Terer pointed out that the 6 bed capacity ICU at MTRH will make the residents to continue suffering. He said the facility should be upgraded to the standards of Kenyatta National Hospital.
