Residents of Uasin Gishu County benefited from free legal Aid services over the weekend at Huruma grounds.
The services were provided by the Judiciary, Law Society of Kenya, National Police Service and National Lands Commission. The programme was sponsored by ICJ Kenya.
The residents led by Shauri village elder Ms. Veronica Njeri hailed the organisers of the free legal services for giving information on how the courts and law operates.
“We are happy for the services as us the lowly people are not aware of the court processes but today we know what to do.” Ms. Njeri said.
Njeri urged the government to collaborate with the local elders especially in settling land matters before they get to court.
ICJ Kenya Programs Officer Ms. Teresia Mutua said the organisation is prompted by the needs of the people and lack of legal knowledge by many citizens to hold such workshops.
“At times many people have legal problems and they do not know what to do. We are here today to give them guidance .” said Ms. Mutua.
