The Kenyan schools participating in this year’s East African Secondary Schools games at Eldoret have continued to hold a good show against their opponents. Except for few loses, the teams have already shown they are real champions.
In yesterdays fixtures, Friends School Bukembe beat 3-1 LT St Basile of Burundi in soccer as the compatriot ladies from St John’s Kaloleni hammered Tanzania’s Alliance 3-0.
In netball the Kenyan girls found the going tough against dominant Ugandans. National champions Kaya Tiwi succumbed to a 25-45 lose to London College while Obambo suffered a humiliating 21-55 defeat to perennial rivals and defending champions St Mary’s Kitende.
The volleyball faceoffs were even tough. Lycee de Nyanza of Kenga held off Luyanzi of Uganda 3-2 (24-26, 26-24, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-08). In the girls’ category, national girls champions Kosirai demolished Uganda’s St Alloys 3-0 (25-15, 25-23, 25-22) in a Pool ‘B’ match at Eldoret Polytechnic.
Former champions Cheptil Boys’ campaign to reclaim the regional volleyball title on Tuesday suffered a blow after going down 3-2 to holders Rusumo of Rwanda.
