Deputy President William Ruto has accused land as stumbling block to the quick expansion of the Eldoret’s Kipchoge Stadium. Speaking during the closing ceremony of the Rio Olympics National Trials on Friday, Mr. Ruto directed the county government to repossess all grabbed land around the stadium.
He said that the government had already allocated Sh. 350million for modernization, expansion and establishment of other sports amenities within the stadium thus need for more land.
“There is a bit of encroachment beyond the current fence, with some of the individuals possessing allotment letters. This is a public utility and nobody should lay claim to it,” he said.
