Eldoret town is being stationed to ease the congestion at the Mombasa Port when the proposed ‘Dry Port’ begins operation. This is according to the plans by the county government of Uasin Gishu in conjunction with Kenya Ports Authority (KPA).
The port when established will be used to clear and forward imports destined to Uganda, Burundi, Rwanda, Democratic Republic of Congo, South Sudan, the North Rift and the Western Kenya.
Governor Jackson Mandago said that the port will play a critical role in developing the North Rift and Western Kenya. He was speaking when he met KPA Chairman Marsden Madoka and Inland Container Manager Symon Wahome.
