Eldoret Town Set To Host International Cooperative Societies’ Day

The Eldoret Town is in full swing to host this year’s International Day to be celebrated on Saturday 2nd July 2016. The event which will be graced by Uasin Gishu County Governor Hon. Jackson Mandago, CS Trade and officials from the ministry, Cooperatives society officials and members, Private sector officials and members of the public will take place at the Noble Conference Center.

The procession to the venue will be flagged of at the Uasin Gishu County headquarters grounds by Gov. Mandago at 9.00am. The procession will then proceed to Noble Conference Center.

The United Nations’ (UN) International Day of Cooperatives is observed on the first Saturday of July each year. Some of the day’s goals are to increase awareness on cooperatives, as well as strengthen and extend partnerships between the international cooperative movement and other supporting organizations including governments.

This years theme is The Power to Act for a Sustainable Future.

This day is used to recognize and reaffirm the role of cooperatives in economic, social and cultural development and in the achievement of social policy objectives.
